Barcelona Digital, a technological center specialized in R & D in ICT (Information and Communication Technology), has moved to MediaTIC building, located in the 22@Barcelona centre, the first entity to move into this emblematic building. The significant growth of Barcelona Digital prompted a change of corporate headquarters, which will continue the expansion of the center with all the equipment and space requirements, thanks to the exceptional features of the MediaTIC building.

'Avatar' lays the groundwork for the new cinema

Institutional Repository of the UOC

'O2, la Oberta en abierto' is the institutional repository of the UOC. It contains digital publications in open access produced by the UOC on research, teaching and management. The objective of the repository is to collect, preserve and disseminate the scientific and academic production of the University, to increase its visibility and impact.

The UOC promotes a project to offer contents to everyone without restrictions

The UOC will have a collection of digital documents for promotion of the information society that will be able to be consulted from any device and will be accessible to all kinds of people. With support from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, the Open University has launched the e-Alquimia project, an initiative that allows creation of a portal of digital contents with the possibility of collaborative editing managed with free software.

In 1088, the King of England created a census of his kingdom and registered the results in a very heavy volume which can still be checked at the Royal Library. After 900 years, the BBC wanted to repeat the mission, and taped the same results on a laser disk that fits in the palm of a hand. But when 10 years later some one wanted to check this data, he could not do it: there was no longer a machine capable of reading them.
