Health and Innovation 2.0

The paradigm of communication has changed dramatically since the revolution in information and communication technology (ICT) in the late twentieth century. And not only has it changed because in the new global ecosystem millions of people have become broadcasters; in the current era of web 2.0, society is changing in all its activities, from education and scientific research to health and social relationships. This is the thesis of the sociologist Manuel Castells, the expert who has best explained the digital revolution and its consequences.

The i2CAT Foundation has presented at the eHealth Week 2010, which took place from 15 to 18 March 2010 in Barcelona, the project results Carers Network, a pilot scheme aimed at preventing progressive social exclusion faced by caregivers of dependents with the creation of a social network between psychologists and caregivers.

Chasing eHealth

Finding work or a partner through the Internet is no longer something risky, and online business transactions are no longer painful. The network has earned the trust of its users, despite of the existence of interested pressures or jokes that boycott the mesh. But to a world that moves for work, love and health, the time has come to introduce its fortress to the cyber assistance and to telemedicine. In the United States they have understood for a long time now the benefits of e-health. Europe struggles to follow its steps, whilst the United Nations urges the entire planet to change the chip.
