About 220 researchers shared their research results at the Third Symposium on Bioengineering and Nanomedicine held on June 1-2 in Barcelona. During two intense days, leading international scientists have shared knowledge with young researchers in Catalonia, many of whom took advantage of the opportunity to establish professional contacts and to promote their work.

Through the BDigital Global Congress 2010, Barcelona offered itself as a platform for companies specialized in intelligent infrastructures, energy networks and social media to come test different strategies for the future. These companies, meanwhile, refined their proposals for creating the city of tomorrow.

Catalonia has become the center of excellence in southern Europe in terms of research and development in nanoscience. The recent addition of the Alba synchrotron to Spain’s list of major scientific and technological facilities places Barcelona in a leading position in the international nanotechnology scene. All these reasons have contributed to the Catalan capital hosting the GENNESYS 2010 Congress, an international meeting on nanotechnology, on May 27 and 28.
