First International Medical Research Association meeting

On 10-11 June Hotel Campus will host the first meeting of the International Medical Research Association (IMRA), with members of UAB and eight research institutions of South Korea. The association was created in 2009 and will allow members to collaborate in high-tech medical research projects in the fields of neurology, biology and regenerative medicine. They will carry out joint research projects, exchange information and researchers and meet periodically at reunions such as the one taking place in Bellaterra.

The aim of this alliance is to contribute to the advancement of medical research and academic programmes for the benefit of the international community. The UAB office in Seoul and the research park Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority are in charge of coordinating IMRA activities.

In addition to UAB, association members include Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, Catholic University of Daegu, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology, Daegu Haany University, Keimyung University, Kyungpook National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology and Yeungman University.

During these two days several academic and scientific authorities will be presenting IMRA member institutions and exposing their lines of research. Conferences will be offered on Spanish and Korean health care systems and on different themes of interest in this sector such as vascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and treatments, nanobiotechnology, gene therapy, etc. Participants will also have the chance to visit the Alba Synchrotron and other research centres.
