Biocat and Fenin team up to promote innovation in healthcare technologies and biomedicine

Biocat and the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies (Fenin) have signed an agreement to analyze, improve and promote training and information programs in the field of healthcare innovation in Catalonia. According to the president of Fenin Catalunya, Ramon Roca, “This agreement represents a real breakthrough to make innovative technology available to companies associated with Fenin Catalunya and biomedical companies that make up the Bioregion of Catalonia by granting them increased access to key training and information generated by both entities to facilitate their development and projection as well as form projects of common interest.” In this sense, both entities have agreed to jointly market their services that may be of interest to their respective groups.

The president of the Executive Committee of Biocat, Manel Balcells, stressed that “this agreement represents the consolidation of a partnership that has been long in the making to bring together the up-and-coming medical technology companies, thus bridging gaps between them and biomedicine and biotechnology, in order to boost the competitiveness of the sector and to promote cooperation for the benefit of both parties.”


Both entities expect the deal to have a clear impact on the quality of their activities and to help continue their search ofr innovative excellence.

According to the agreement, Biocat and Fenin will carry out the steps required to identify the needs of the sector to provide new services and products. In this line, Biocat and Fenin will work to promote the internationalization of companies in the healthcare technology sector in Catalonia. With this vision of international expansion, Ramon Roca said: “This agreement reinforces the institutional cooperation that Fenin promotes to strengthen the position of the health technology sector in Spain as a world leader in research excellence.”

On the other hand, and considering the main beneficiary of these innovative efforts, the patient, the president of Fenin Catalunya believes that “this agreement aims at promoting the development of new solutions used in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, providing useful tools and reliable health care professionals who can improve the quality of care and ensure the quality of life for patients.”

Manel Balcells explains that the agreement “can consolidate Biocat’s strategy to extend the field of medical technology that provides strategic services to biotechnology and biomedicine and has positioned us as a critical partner in boosting innovation.” Furthermore, both entities have agreed to jointly market their own services that may be of interest to their respective groups.

Fenin encompasses the manufacturers, importers and distributors of healthcare technology whose common characteristic is that they supply all the health institutions in Spain. Fenin conducts coordination, representation, management, promotion and defense of general and common interests of its partners. Created in 1977 with 113 founding members grouped into two sectors, in vitro diagnostics and electrical products, Fenin currently comprises 13 sectors, which are formed by more than 500 manufacturers and distributors, representing over 80% of the total Spanish market of healthcare technologies.
 
Biocat coordinates and promotes dynamic biotechnology, biomedicine and medical technology in Catalonia. Promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona Town Hall, it represents various leading companies and institutions in the sector.
