The oil slick in the Mississippi Delta will take months to be tackled

Nobody knows for certain how much oil is pouring from the British Petroleum platform that exploded on April 20, claiming 11 lives in the process. What is worse is that no one can predict at this stage what the total volume of oil poured into the gulf will be by the time the leak is sealed off. However, we are able to foresee the environmental impacts the spill could inflict on the coast and the seabed and the local flora and fauna.

Why go back to the moon?

The economic hardship and lack of clear objectives in the space race is causing a substantive discussion in the United States. Back to the moon is no longer a priority. And human spaceflights until now forbidden for private enterprise, are also under review. All waiting for the new materials and technologies to regain the initiative.

Electricity generation and motor transportation produce health related damage. These are reflected in the high figure of 120,000 million dollars every year, in the United States. For the first time it is possible to estimate a specific figure to one of the so-called hidden costs associated to energy production and consumption, which are not reflected in market prices.
