In this case, the modernization effort was led by a technology center considered exemplary by the European Commission.

Lights and shadows of the European R&D towards the new stage

Research networks of excellence created under the European Union don't manage to have their own life and to survive. They mostly disappear by the end of their funding, according to a report from the European auditors court. The result means bad news for this instrument of science policy, now that Europe is preparing for a new R&D stage in a renewed policy framework.
