But, starting on May 15, you can visit any museum you wish, walk their exhibition halls at your leisure and try to make the tough decision of which of the limitless activities to take part it. In short, go out and take advantage of this great cultural offering.

Museums all over the world have organized open-house days, guided walks, night tours, recreational activities, cultural activities and many more initiatives under this year’s theme of “Museums for Social Harmony” proposed by The International Council of Museums (ICOM). This theme is intended to promote the role of museums as spaces for dialogue, tolerance and development from the perspective of pluralism, acceptance of difference and creativity.

One way to enjoy the International Museum Day is proposed by the Catalonia’s Generalitat through the webiste patrimoni.gencat. The proposed challenge is to participate in the Museum Race (Carrera dels Museus) through Facebook, with a trip to Paris for two people going to the winner.

In order
to participate in the game, you must visit as many museums as possible between May 15 and 31. Once in the museum, take a picture proving that you have been there and then post in on the Facebook page of the Museum Race. The more museums you visit, the more points you earn and the more likely you are to win the trip to Paris with two free tickets to the Louvre Museum. Other top scorers will also receive a lot of gifts courtesy of the museums.

The following list of links, provided by the Generalitat, can be a first step in choosing which of he multiple activities you want to take advantage of:
