12 November 2009

This year, its central theme is dedicated to the concepts of evolution, creativity and innovation in the context of the celebration of the International Year of Astronomy; the Year of Darwin; the European Year of Creativity and innovation; the Monturiol Year and Year of Cerdà. Its aim is to show the public the significance of all these events and the need to promote innovation, creativity and active participation in a knowledge-based society.

About 200 entities of the Catalan research and innovation system are participating, working together for an innovative scientific dissemination, with original formulas for transmitting  knowledge transfer to society and, especially, to the young.

Thus, in order to arouse curiosity and interest of youngsters towards science and technology, the SC’90 is hosting the sixth Day of Science in Schools, an initiative of the FCRI and the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia. One hundred scientists and researchers in multiple fields of knowledge will visit the classrooms of ESO and Baccalaureate, where the researchers of the future are, to bring them closer to the enigmatic and fascinating world of science and technology.
The Week of science by the Catalan Research Foundation (FCR), the Departament d'Universitats, Recerca i Societat de la Informació (DURSI), and the Cercle d'Amics de la Ciència, along with eleven universities of Catalonia the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC) and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).
