As a part of Biodiversity Week festivities, Catalonia’s Department of Environment and Housing has organized a biodiversity photo contest open to all citizens of Catalonia between May 21 and June 13.

Until June 15, 2010, photographic work can be submitted to the first ever geological photo contest Geofoto-UB2010 of the Geology Department of the University of Barcelona. The contest aims to reward the best images from the world of geology in general and on the relationship between people and the environment.

On the occasion of World Parks Day, the Natural Areas Department of the greater Barcelona area government has convoked the 3rd Annual Digital Nature Photography Contest of the Wildlife Parks Network. The deadline is June 30 and the awards will be announced on July 15.

There are very few days left for the voting of the best Expolab projects created by designers from all around the world on Second Life, in the area reserved for Citilab by the Tech Museum. The contest has proved very successful, already around a dozen virtual projects that are really creative.

For the second consecutive year, the PRBB organizes the El·lipse Award for Science Popularization which aims to promote life sciences popularization. As it was done in the first edition, the works should be focused on a specific aspect of biomedicine, which in 2009 were ‘The stem cells". This year, the award is framed in the Year of Biodiversity so it will accept works that address the issue of Human genetic diversity.

The Catalan Association of Environmental Sciences and the CADS have opened the deadline to participate in the second edition of the photo and video contest "Your goals", which aims to promote discussion between citizens on environmental issues.
