Sustainable development touches all of us: governments, scientists, the whole society and each and every one of us individuals. We often think that someone else has the responsibility to promote change, but there are many actions we can do right now to help ourselves to make our towns, cities, countries and the whole planet a more habitable place for future generations. We all know the most basic steps, but there are always new, imaginative and even surprising ones to learn.

The Department of Culture and Media of the Generalitat of Catalonia will create a website of international dissemination of Catalan music. The culture secretary, Eduard Voltas, explained that this website will bring together all the content, resources, online communities and services related to the music of Catalonia. The portal, according to Voltas, aims to "create a virtual community of people interested in music made in Catalonia and a platform for recruitment of Catalan groups. In addition to information about groups and artists, it will also contain video clips, discography, news and dates of concerts, and will enable to buy music by these performers through the network.

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) institutional repository, O2 the Oberta in open access, was rolled out on 1 March. The repository holds the open-access e-journals produced by the UOC in the fields of research, teaching and management. The aim of O2 is to collect, preserve and disseminate the University's academic and scientific production in order to increase visibility and impact. With the start-up of the repository, the University is looking to increase the levels of recognition and prestige for its intellectual activities.

The portal ‘Territoris Creatius’, digital pioneer project in Catalonia, has in eight months expanded to 200 the number of artists appearing and received 29.000 visits from Internet users. The project is the work of the Territorial Services of Culture and Media of Tarragona, with the collaboration of the URV.

As a result of the collaboration between the CADS and the Environmental Forum Foundation, tomorrow Tuesday 16 February at 12.00 am the Index of Research in the Environment and Sustainability (DIRM) will be presented, a new web-portal serving research groups and centres, companies and professionals in the field of environment and sustainability in Catalonia.
