New technologies applied to agriculture

The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) has organized the conference “Les noves tecnologies aplicades a l'agricultura” (“New technologies applied to agriculture”) for Thursday, June 10th at 19:00. The conference will be given by Puigdomènech Pere, academic director of the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) and researcher of Spain’s National Research Council (CSIC).

The speaker will explain how the agriculture practiced in the 21st century produces food, medicines and cosmetics, among other products, from a very small number of plants. Now, the modern techniques of genomics improving the genetics of plants and animals are tools to provide sufficient agricultural production. The discussion will also touch on the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics, which studies various aspects of new technologies applied to plants and farm animals.

Puigdomènech Pere (Barcelona, 1948) is a research professor of Spain’s National Research Council. He holds a degree in Physics and a PhD in Biological Sciences. He has worked at the Unité de Recherche en Biophysique, CNRS, in Montpellier, France,  Portsmouth Polytechnic University in Great Britain, the Max-Planck-Institut für Molekulare Genetik in Berlin, Germany, and was professor of biochemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. He works in the field of Plant Molecular Biology and has published over 150 scientific papers in international journals and books and more than 200 articles in newspapers. He is a member of EMBO, of the Institute of Catalan Studies, the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences of Barcelona, the European Academy, the Académie d'Agriculture of France, the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies European Commission, and chairman of the Ethics Committee of the CSIC.

bueno sera ke si pueda asistir..... pero no creo porque hace dias tenia una diarrea y otra ves me volvioo a dar peroo si haceen ese gran cambio bien
