The exhibition Water, Rivers and People offers human profiles of the conflicts and struggles over that most basic resource, water. Through photographs and firsthand accounts, the victims are no longer mere statistics but rather individuals who communicate their anxieties, experiences and hopes. Witnesses who may not have the solution to their problems, but who suffer on the front lines and therefore deserve to be heard and taken into account.
THE RIGHT TO WATER
Some 4,000 of the 10,000 people who die every day trying to gain access to drinking water are children under five years of age who succumb to drinking water contaminated by sewage spills.
