On May 6, this renowned environmental lawyer was in Santa Susanna (Catalonia, Spain) to inaugurate a conference on social responsibility and climate change as part of the International Year of Biodiversity.

The presence of this Nobel-winning physicist in Barcelona on 22 April was on the occasion of a highly-deserved tribute. At the age of 63, the magnificent physic and vice chancellor of the University of Warsaw could very well have seen her name printed among the winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics this year. Over 100 research articles guarantee her leading position in the field of optics. One of her most valuable contributions has been the development of a theory, a pure phase correlation, which allows to significantly increasing the identification of distinctions between objects which are very similar to each other, almost identical. She has recently visited Barcelona, to attend an event in which she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona (UAB).

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry Ada Yonath participates in a student symposium in Barcelona

To encourage scientists starting their career is what the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009, Ada Yonath, has recently done in Barcelona. The scientist has also pointed out her current research lines about the ribosome, cellular organelle involved in the resistances to antibiotics, which has placed her at the cusp of science.
