Effort, yes. Higher authority, no. This could summarize the spirit of Sangakoo, a new initiative for learning mathematics via the Internet that was born in Barcelona. The method, based on a social network, promises to convert mathematics into an intellectual game that is addictive for its users. This approach stands out from both traditional systems of mathematics as well as those which try to sell learning them as "fun."

Europe’s mobile wireless networks could collapse within three years’ time due to the increase of users who have smartphones and are connected to the Internet. Two projects funded by the European Commission, one of which is developed by researchers at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, are already working on technology that will prevent this breakdown.

We do not drive flying cars, derive nourishment from a handful of pills or take summer vacations on the moon. Nor have we contaminated the atmosphere to the point where life on the planet is impossible. We do not even have periodic spats with bands of disgruntled androids. But we no longer can live without carrying a mobile phone at all times, without consulting our e-mail or placing our hope in the regenerative power of stem cells. The future ends in the present.

Neither the CIA nor the State nor an omnipotent God. Who sees and knows in detail the various facets of our personality in the beginning of this century is called Google. Six letters with the Olympic colours that have become the face of Internet. A float to surf the Web without fear of shipwreck, transformed into a comfortable yacht. And if until now what did not appear on television did not exist, today that which now lives outside of Google remains at the scope of reality. But there is life beyond Orion.
