A breakthrough in the battle against lupus and rheumatoid arthritis

The Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona has discovered a new mechanism of antibody production, which opens the door to new treatments for autoimmune diseases and tumors of the immune system. The study’s findings are the result of a joint project between the Catalan hospital and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and have been published in the journal Nature Immunology.

New insights into the links between liver transplants and cognitive impairment

A study by the Research Institute at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, Spain, has concluded that liver transplants, in addition to being necessary for the survival and improved quality of life of patients with liver diseases, also have a short-term beneficial effect on their cognitive functions.
